“Dominican Week USA 2021”

From September 27 to October 1, 2021.

The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) organized the 29th. edition of the Dominican Week in the United States #SemDomUSA2021, which sought to strengthen ties with the United States, the country's main trading partner.

Dominican Week has served for almost three decades to promote the export offer of goods and services of the Dominican Republic, promote the Dominican culture and strengthen political, commercial, social and cultural ties between both countries.

This year, the event was developed in a hybrid mode and addressed issues on the positioning of the Dominican Republic as a Nearshore platform and Regional Logistics Hub, reactivation of tourism, relationship with the Biden administration, renewable energy and health.

Luis Rafael Pellerano and Ricardo Pellerano Nadal traveled to Washington, DC, to kick off Dominican Week, which began with an inaugural activity at the residence of the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United States, Sonia Guzmán, where the Minister of Foreign Relations, Roberto Álvarez; the president and vice president of AMCHAMDR, Roberto Herrera and William Malamud, respectively; and members of the delegation, made up of members of the Dominican private sector, public officials, American businessmen, and members of the Dominican diaspora in the United States.

Other activities carried out at #SemDomUSA2021 was a tour of the Visa Data Center in Virginia to learn about the company's progress in its digital payment platforms, cybersecurity and the development of the “cashless economy”.

A discussion was also held in New York City, where they spoke about the "Role of Dominicans in legal practice in the United States", by the Dominican Bar Association, which supports the Latino community that practices this profession. in the U.S; and the day ended at the event with the “Capital Market Law”, offered by Dominicans on Wall Street (DOWS), seeking to promote the Dominican capital market for the issuance of public shares and investment in equity securities.

On the closing day of #SemDomUSA2021, a meeting was held at the Major League Baseball (MLB) offices in New York with Jorge Besosa, Executive Vice President of Corporate Banking at Banco Múltiple BHD León, and Jim Small, International Senior Vice President of the MLB, where they talked about the alliance of both companies and the efforts they have implemented to financially educate the prospects of that sport.

A lo largo de toda la Semana Dominicana también se realizaron reuniones privadas de alto nivel con organismos multilaterales, representantes del gobierno norteamericano, Think Tanks, entre otros, con el objetivo de promover la oferta exportadora de bienes y servicios del país, así como también posicionar al mercado dominicano como destino ideal para las inversiones, el comercio y el turismo. Pellerano Nadal participó en algunas de estas reuniones privadas, incluyendo en la que conversaron con Julie Anglin, vicepresidenta de Política de América Latina del Motion Pictures Association (MPA), sobre las bondades de filmar en Juan Dolio y el desarrollo de la industria cinematográfica en la República Dominicana.

Throughout the Dominican Week, high-level private meetings were also held with multilateral organizations, representatives of the North American government, Think Tanks, among others, with the aim of promoting the country's export offer of goods and services, as well as positioning to the Dominican market as an ideal destination for investments, trade and tourism. Pellerano Nadal participated in some of these private meetings, including the one in which they spoke with Julie Anglin, Vice President of Latin American Policy of the Motion Pictures Association (MPA), about the benefits of filming in Juan Dolio and the development of the film industry in the Dominican Republic.
