“Women in Leadership - Choose To Challenge”

The British Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic commemorated International Women's Month with an exclusive conference where relevant issues on women's leadership were addressed.


Our Senior Counsel Urania Paulino, participated as a moderator in Panel #2 of the “#ChooseToChallenge creating a sustainable and inclusive world” event, organized by the British Cahmber of Commerce @britchamdr

At the conference to commemorate International Women's Month, we had the opportunity to be part of this very important initiative organized by the British Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic, to talk about "Women in Leadership, Choose To Challenge", giving support to this year's official theme at the United Nations #UN: "Gender inclusion and equity".

Our Senior Counsel Urania Paulino was part of this meeting of great women, where they met to address the theme "Creating a sustainable and inclusive world." She was accompanied by: Milagros De Camps | Vice Minister of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Environment of the Dominican Republic; Inka Mattila | Resident Representative in the Dominican Republic of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and Alba Rodríguez | Executive Director of Save the Children, together with them, she talked about important initiatives to achieve sustainable and inclusive development in our country.

As a special guest, the first lady Raquel Arbaje de Abinader @raquel_arbaje was present inviting us to be part of the change | "The pace of change must be increased by empowering women and their leadership. This goes hand in hand with a global culture change in favor of sustainable and inclusive development, in which women are called to play a fundamental role.”

The conference also counted with the special presence of Baroness Gloria | Commercial Envoy of the Prime Minister for the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Costa Rica; H.M. Mockbul Ali Obe | Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Francesca Ortiz | Britcham Executive Vice President.


The main theme of the event was developed in two large panels:

Panel #1: Women in Leadership: Accelerating the pace of change. ModeratorSusana Martinez @smartineznadal | President of National Associtation of Youth Entrepreneurs – Speakers: Ana Figueiredo | CEO of Altice Dominicana @AlticeDo , Sofia Antor | General Manager of VISA in Dominican Republic @visa_do , and Dr. Patricia González | Executive President of Amadita Laboratorio Clínico@amaditalab . They shared their experiences, challenges, and opportunites of female leadership in important sectors of the Dominican economy and society.
